Bronte Country is the name commonly given to any area where a member of the Bronte family, that is the Reverend Patrick, artist Branwell or Charlotte, Emily or Ann, lived or worked. As their home after leaving Thornton in Bradford, was Haworth, near Keighley in West Yorkshire, the UFO sighting mentioned in this piece took place in the Haworth area in 1901 when two policmen and an engine driver spottted a large, orange-glowing orb in the night sky. Was it a spacecraft?

Mesmerism, is the original name for what we now know as hypnotism and phrenology is the study of a person's character by the shape and size of their head. Both were very popular in the first half of the 19th century and event he wrtier Charlotte Bronte became interested. Many practitioners would advertise for clients in local newspapers or put on public displays of mesmerism. Phrenology and mesmerism were often practiced together in Victorian times and were seen as a form of psychological aid.
The Owlet Vampire was first seen in the early 1980's near Windhill Cemetery in Shipley, West Yorkshire. The vampire was originally mistaken for a person who had been to a wedding as he was dressed like a bridegroom. Reports said this vampire floated several feel from the ground and he gave chase to passers by.

Snails apparently like old letter boxes set deep in country walls. During the day they sleep around the entrance to the letter box and at night feed on the glue of stamps and envelopes - mail left in the box for collection the next day. Some snails worked so fast that they virtually ate the letters overnight. A true story.
